Radial Drilling Machines are designed for processing workpieces of large size and weight. These machines is characterized by a sufficiently large extension of the spindle unit (up to 1300-2000mm).

The following operations can be performed using Radial Drilling Machines:

– drilling holes in solid material;
– drilling and core-drilling of pre-drilled holes;
– countersinking of end surfaces;
– hole reaming;
– tapping internal threads mainly in medium and large-sized box-type workpieces.

The difference between Radial Drilling Machines and vertical drilling machines lies in the fact that in the former type of machines, the spindle moves relative to the workpiece. This is done because when processing heavy workpieces, for their installation and alignment much more time is needed than for moving the drill.
